The origin of OraLase

OraLase is a non-surgical laser sequence created by Dr. Darick Nordstrom for the muscles and connective tissues of the mouth, head and neck. It is offered for patients ages 2 and older.

Alongside it, Dr. Nordstrom taught HINSLR (High Intensity Non-Surgical Laser Release), a direct-contact technique for painful tissues such as muscular trigger points.

OraLase has since been taught to many clinicians, and every version of it taught today traces back to his work.

Where OraLase has grown

At The Synergy Academy, OraLase grew into RestOralase, shaped by Dr. Angie Tenholder's own clinical experience with it. RestOralase includes the OraLase sequence and builds on it. Beginning in 2027, OraLase is taught at The Synergy Academy as part of the RestOralase course.

Why BabyLase® was developed

Babies are different

Babies are not small adults. Before age 2, a baby feeds and swallows by reflex. That swallow drives early brain and nerve development, and by about age 2 it should have changed into the mature pattern that chewing builds on.

Dr. Angie Tenholder had provided OraLase to children and adults for years when an infant feeding specialist asked her to treat a baby. She had not been taught an infant application and had no infant protocol to work from, so she developed one.

"Calling it OraLase didn't feel comfortable for me, because as I developed the protocols to safely teach it to others, I quickly recognized that there needed to be a distinction between the needs of infants and those of children and adults."

BabyLase is built around the neurology of reflexive feeding. It uses a gentler dose matched to each baby's age and response, and it's done as a team with infant feeding specialists.
